This is my first posting on otisjohnsonblog.com.
I’m using this medium to reach out to the voters of Savannah so that you may get to know me. When you go into the polling places on November 6th we ask you to vote for Otis Johnson, so that we may have another four years of the progress that we have been making in the city of Savannah.

It’s very important that I reach out to you because throughout my career, I have always attempted to get people to know me and to know how I think and know why I take certain positions. This blog will allow me to reach out on a regular basis.

You can respond and we can have an interactive dialog.
Please check back on a regular basis and give your feedback so we may know what you are thinking.

Dude, the Mayor has a Mac

Ok, so I’ve been hiding out at Gallery Espresso all day crunching numbers, and was in a cranky mood until I saw this.
And it totally made my day.
Apple has officially won the war.  Microsoft might as well back it’s bags and go home.  Beca…

Welcome to the blogosphere, Mayor Johnson! Is this a blog for your campaign only or will you keep posting to it after your re-election?

Welcome to the blogosphere Mayor. You need to become a voice on blogsavannah as well as a friend of TCCi.

  4. Chris Miller Says:

Well Mr. Mayor, we knew you were the smartest man in the “city biz” and we knew you were cool but we had no idea how cool until this photo appeared on your blog. The fact that you use a Mac has got Mac-cultists all over Savannah jumping up and down for joy as it shows you are the true geek we all know and love! Congrats on your savvy choice of technology and welcome to the interesting world of blogging!

I think it’s great that you’re blogging and encouraging folks to get out and vote. Are you going to use this forum to discuss issues that are important to the citizens of Savannah? If so, I’d like to suggest the first topic: curbside recycling. Thoughts?

  6. Fitz Haile Says:

Congrats Mr. Mayor on your new blog…think it’s a great way for folks to engage with you and your campaign issues one on one.

P.S. I like the picture with the Mac. (I actually hear you’re PC guy but you can’t beat the look of a Powerbook.)

  7. Spencer Says:

I would like to see a focus on the people stealing Macs and other valuables versus the mayor using one like every other yahoo. I don’t care if he has one or not, what about the crime in the city and other important issues?

    Mr Mayor

I cannot begin to tell you how disapppointed I am with the city of Savannah and it’s leaders. You have allowed city manager Michael Brown to get away with the unthinkable in this day and time. I applied for the position of police officer but was denied employment yet chief Berkow was hired with multiple law suits against him. I thought that we as black people had progressed further but I see that is not the case. How can you hire someone on a trial basis pending the outcome of court proceedings and deny the same opportunity for others? how can that person effectively supervise and discipline others within the department when he has a blemished record? I was not given that opportunity; is he better than I am just because he is white and I am black? the bottom line is the law was broken and I along with who knows how many other applicants were discriminated against. I will have my day in court and if I have to stand in front of city hall every single day holding up a sign then that is what I will do. The time of accoutability has come and someone must be held accountable for this.

Why have you allowed the creative coast to shill for you on a website that is funded by tax dollars? Isn’t that over the line Otis? Chris is doing everything possible to re-make your image high tech and warm and fuzzie which you needed but using organizations which are supported by public taxes is wrong. Please ask him to stop misguiding you in this way.

    John –
    A correction to your comment:
“on a website that is funded by tax dollars”
This site is not funded by tax dollars. Your guess is wrong.

Also, you seem to have the impression that any website or blog is connected to TCCi.
The Otis Johnson blog is a very effective tool for Otis to connect directly with the citizens. Isn’t that a good thing?
Please reconsider these things and the ways you could use this tool.
