After living in this city for the last 11 years, I feel today like it has let me down in a profound way. As an artist, The Orange Step exhibition in Forsyth Park has been a dream for me. This city proclaims itself a city that loves the arts, but something as profound and impactful as that show cannot even stay up for longer than a few days. It feels like a slap in the face to artists and designers in this city.
Admittedly the artist is a friend of mine, but I have heard from many, many people all around town how much they are enjoying the exhbition, and how much it adds to the park. I went there on Sunday and there were many more people than usual in the park…It was amazing to see people making such good use of the space, all in the name of art.
We have the film fest coming up, and it looks like all we have to show this is year is the same thing we show every year; oak trees and cobblestones. It is an abomination that Kiril is having to take down that impactful installation so quickly.
It makes me wonder why I even chose to live in a city where something as simple as keeping this up cannot happen. I keep hearing why it can’t happen…ALL LAME EXCUSES that speak very clearly to me and other people like me that we’re not worth the effort. If something that is enjoyed by so many citizens cannot stay up because of city policy, then the policy is broken and does not meet the needs of the city’s residents.
I feel like we have been living in a glass box and I was slightly aware that there was a ceiling, but I didn’t realize how low it really is. The more people tell me how blown away they are by the show, the more depressed I am about this city.
I am beyond disappointed, and it makes me re-evaluate what I thought this city was.
THAT SHOW NEEDS TO STAY UP!!!

I thought I should follow with another post since i just found out that the show is staying up for another week!!!
I cannot begin to say how grateful I am to the folks who made this happen…My faith in this City is restored!
THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

Greetings Mayor Johnson.
Congratulations on a second term!
This is Bro. Malik. You may remember me as a Civil Engineer formerly with the City of Savannah, now with GDOT. We spoke with you during your first campaign about recycling and sanitation etc. You came to the grand opening of ALL EYES ON EGIPT Books-N-Things and we gave you a neck tie (with Nubian Pharoahs on it) and other materials that we know you have embraced in our collective culture. We have been in business since 2003, original located on 38th and Ogeechee Road (Cuyler Brownsville area).
You see the falsehoods of “European” based faith (separation and ignorance) as it is repackaged and given to us for our Nubian people, while throwing away thousands of years of our own way of life. You are a wise man and making Our Story, while correcting his-story. Helping to set the record straight in this day and time. May the Spirit (Spiritualist) Of Our Original Ancestors always be with you.
Please take the time go to my website listed below and attached inventory list….it will open your eyes even more. Thanks in advance and please spread the word of Our Own Nubian Bookstore…we need more of them that deal with facts and reality.
Raahubaat (Greetings) NuWauBian (Nubian) Family.
Please find attached the UPDATED Inventory List of products that are in stock. New are in RED. Expect to receive an Updated Inventory List as more products become available. Free free to use our pay pal or email me your orders.
